The Milwaukee Creek winds its way through Clyde, Grant and Burtchville Townships in northeastern St. Clair County, Michigan. It provides drainage for local farmland and supports a wide variety of plants and wildlife as it works its way to empty into Lake Huron.
Life is never dull. There is always something going on between our bird feeder and the creek. We see deer, rabbit, squirrel, turtle, chipmunk, raccoon, woodchuck, possum, fox, coyote, bats, wild turkeys, mallard and wood ducks, blue heron and a large variety of field, water and woodland birds. Most of my photos have been shot through my windows.
The beauty it provides local residents is ever changing. Each season brings a new view of the water and the land that surrounds it. Winter is a wonderland of white making it easy to spot the area wildlife.
Early spring snow melts and rain overflow the banks turning the property in back of our home into a lakelike flood plain. May brings a thousand shades of green as the land awakens from its winter sleep. Migrating birds add a different touch of color. Summer noises include the buzzing of flying creatures as well as the croaking of frogs.Fall blazes with color before the vegetation settles back again for its winter snooze.
